Tips on keeping your manhood primed & perky

By | September 18th, 2015|

If your manhood is no longer rising to the occasion, medical and psychological reasons could be causing its lack of vitality. But if you still get morning erections or erections for masturbation, it’s likely that you have psychogenic erectile dysfunction. No, this doesn’t mean that you have some deep-seated psychological issue or that you are imagining that your most prized asset doesn’t work. What it does mean is that there isn’t a medical cause for your lacklustre performance in the bedroom department. Generally speaking, psychogenic erectile dysfunction is caused by depression, stress or relationship distress. The most common causes are [...]

Fruit and vegetables high in pesticides can lower sperm quality

By | March 23rd, 2015|

Two interesting studies have appeared last year, both examining the effect fruit and vegetables have on sperm quality. The first study was performed in the Massachusetts General Hospital between April 2007 and June 2012. This study examined how high intake of fruit and vegetables affects sperm quality. Over 150 men were questioned about how often they eat different kinds of food and the fruits and vegetables present in their nutrition were classified according to their pesticide residue levels. After each participant’s pesticide residue level was calculated, the researchers came to some interesting discoveries. The total intake of fruit and vegetables [...]

Optimal nutrition for fertility and longevity

By | March 16th, 2015|

For decades scientists believed that animals need to make a sacrifice in order to reproduce – they can either choose fertility and to have offspring, or they could have a long and happy life. Not an easy choice, is it? However, a new study that was done in Australia suggests otherwise. The article published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA claims that it could be possible that mammals live longer and increase their fertility by simply manipulating their nutrition. Researchers have been observing over 800 mice that were on diets with varying amounts of [...]

Impact of physical labour, meds and hypertension on fertility

More and more researchers are directing their attention towards exploring different factors that may be affecting both male and female fertility. One area that hasn’t been investigated until recently is a relationship between strenuous work, with health and semen parameters in men who are trying to conceive. One such study was published a few days ago on the Fertility and Sterility website. The study was done at the National Institute of Health and at Stanford University in California. The scientists followed 456 men with the average age of 31.8 years, where more than half of the participants didn't have children [...]

Obesity may be affecting your TTC efforts

By | March 9th, 2015|

In the past few decades, male obesity has nearly tripled. This data is correlated with an increase in male infertility – and may be the very cause of it. There is more and more evidence appearing suggesting that obesity has a negative impact on male reproductive potential. Not only does excess weight influencessperm parameters, but it can also cause a decrease in libido and erectile dysfunction, making the process of trying to conceive much more difficult. Several studies have shown that if a male partner is obese and a female has a normal BMI (body mass index); or if both [...]

Caffeine – how much is too much?

By | March 6th, 2015|

As a society, we are almost addicted to caffeine. We drink it in the morning expecting it to help wake us up, in the afternoon to boost our energy levels, on the way home from work or after a workout. It lurks from our lattes, teacups and energy drinks. That is why it is so easy to start drinking too much caffeine without being aware of it. A study done in Portugal shows that a cup of coffee a day shouldn’t affect male fertility seriously, but greater amounts of caffeine may do so. This study found that heavy consumers of [...]

The role of antioxidants in male fertility

By | February 25th, 2015|

Over the last decade, antioxidants have been gaining more and more popularity. Most nutritional guides are advising us to increase the intake of antioxidants in order to protect our body from external pollutants, radiation, to slow down aging and prevent skin cancer caused by UV rays. We all know antioxidants have an important role in a balanced nutrition, but what part do they play when it comes to male fertility? What are antioxidants? First and foremost, we need to understand what these substances are, how they interact with our body and what kind of effect can we expect from them. [...]
